As you can see from the title, we took a break from studying after going to school for consultation by watching this movie. Have been looking forward to watch ever since it was on screen and I'm glad I did because it was just so nice. Touching, sweet, hilarious, nostalgic and parts where the actors and actresses spewed vulgarities were even funnier but they were censored though.
"Should you listen to your heart or follow your head?"
That Girl in Pinafore is a coming-of-age tale set in 1993, Singapore, about dreams, friendships, and first loves.
The story follows four teenagers' efforts to bring business back to a struggling folk music pub, and the blossoming love between Jiaming and May, both fans of Singaporean folk music.
Some of the funny and sweet parts are:
- When Red Bull still came in glass bottles and you drink bottles of them with chicken essence to mug for exams...
 - Being entertained by Liangpopo and just kept laughing non-stop without knowing what is the reason. (the boy just can't stop laughing until his elder bro asked him what's so funny & he answered that he had no idea too)
 - Calling the radio station at late night when you can't sleep even though there's exams the next day just to dedicate songs to your best friends
 - Cycling, BBQ, guitars, falling in love etc at ECP
 - Passing messages through folded aeroplanes
 - Breaking their piggybanks and taking out their savings just to buy a ticket for Jiaming to fly over to US to find May :')

"That Girl In Pinafore touches with its sheer simplicity, accurate depiction of nostalgic memories, innocence of youthful aspirations, and the pureness of teenage love. Never has any movie charted the growing up path of those born in the 1970s and 1980s so well and touched the heart so deeply."
^How true? I guess the older generations or people around that era would love it as this movie really relived their school day memories. 年少时候,谁没有梦?The romance was beautiful and the throwbacks to the little bits of life in the early 90s felt heartwarming. Up till now, I still can't forget the whole scene. From the day when they first met, to the day they fell in love and to the day they were separated. I NEED TO GET OVER IT MANZZZ BUT I CAN'T. This just shows how nice the movie was thus it totally deserves this whole post by its own. :) Definitely hoping for this on-screen couple to work together again because they look so perfect together. I didn't even cry when Julie died, just a little teary over it and some scenes. However, I literally just broke down when I heard the song from the above video. Too nostalgic I would say. Initially was just a few drops of tears rolled down until  the scene where the girl was singing with the throwbacks, I just burst into tears. I have no idea how to face my friends because it was the end of the movie and I'm like, trying to control my emotions but I can't so I just backfaced all of them and cried my heart out.
What a bittersweet love story. Would love to catch it again so do watch while you can!! Definitely gonna be worth it. I'll rate it 4/5 , -1 for letting Julie die and not ending up with Daren. Of course, the whole story behind this movie is about xinyao(Chinese folk music and songwriting) but nah, ain't nobody got time for that HAHAHAHA ok just go and watch and you'll know it yourself ok!!

"Now here is my secret, very simply: you can only see things clearly with your heart. What is essential is invisible to the eye."
